To ensure that the most recent security fixes are applied, you need to install all of the latest service packs and hotfixes on your system.
The scan report identifies which service packs and/or security hotfixes are missing on your computer, along with links to the Microsoft security bulletings for the missing items. Users can click on the link in the security report to view the Microsoft security bulletin, which includes the install location for the security patch. The Windows Update Web site also has the latest service pack and hotfix releases available for you to download. In addition, customers can subscribe to the Microsoft Security Notification Service, a free service that sends e-mail to users when new security bulletins are released.
NOTE: The hotfix checker in V1 will report all available hotfixes from Microsoft, but may not be able to confirm the presence of all SQL-related hotfixes. This is due to a limitation in scanning each instance of SQL Server and will be addressed in future MBSA versions. Administrators should check the scanned machines for the SQL hotfixes marked with a yellow score in the scan report to confirm they have been installed.
